<< Going back to my final point... Any MSFT poster would likely deny any such communications. It wouldnt look good to the media now would it. >>

Good grief. There is *no* conspiracy, OK? If there were, don't you think a secretary or janitor would sell the memo to CNN that said, "And our next item on the agenda, 'Public relations is every employee's task.', 'Item 1: The Red Team has been assigned to swaying opinion on the SI bulletin boards', 'Item 2: Blue Team will infiltrate Netscape, posing as developers and project leads.'

See how silly that sounds?

Mike

Great catch-22 you got there.

We actually did get instructions.

Here is the core message:

"For many reasons, it is critical that the Corporate Public Relations group handles all public comments regarding the DOJ case. If a reporter or representative of a news service or media outlet contacts you, please refer them to PR and do not discuss details of the case."

You might also note from the vast quantity of email and memos that have been reviewed and submitted as "evidence" that the distribution of any opinion or facts about the case via email or other formalized communications creates legally discoverable documents that can be used against the company. We have been discouraged from creating such items. I would suspect that anything I wrote here could be brought into court.

Of course, I have been instructed to post this here by Bill Gates. :)
