Maybe IVI people read my previous message and joined the 3COM
POS partners program. :-)

If their POS Terminals can work on a 3COM NetWork then they could possible be used as a plug in replacement for any number of other POS terminals. The Best will win in the big bOx retail outfits like
Home Depot.

OK here are the BIG Boys in POS.

MIAMI, Fl. (BUSINESS WIRE)-March 30, 1998-Boosted by strong terminal
replacements in Germany and new orders in the UK and Eastern Europe,
Siemens Nixdorf Informationssystems AG (OTC BB:SMAWY) edged out
International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM) for the lead in shipments
Electronic Point-of-Sale Terminals in the Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) region for the first time in 1997, according to a recent study by IHL Consulting Group.

The German-based Siemens Nixdorf (SNI) was responsible for 21.9% of total Retail POS shipments, outpacing IBM (21.3%), ICL Ltd. (10.9%), and NCR (NYSE:NCR) with 10.1% for the 1997 calendar year.

====
Most of the region's growth came as Large Format Food, Mass Merchandiser, and Hypermarket formats continued to proliferate throughout the region. Hospitality shipments increased 7%, dominated by strong 16% shipment growth from MICROS Systems (NASDAQ: MCRS). Department Store Shipments reflected modest growth, while Specialty Store shipments actually declined 2% year to year.
