KYOCERA, BRIGHTPOINT SIGN IRIDIUM PHONE SALES, SVC PACT KYOTO - Kyocera Corp (NYSE:KYO - news; TSE:6971) has signed a contract giving Brightpoint Inc. [Nasdaq:CELL - news] of the U.S. responsibility for sales and service of Kyocera's mobile handsets for the Iridium global mobile phone service, Kyocera sources said. With this deal, Kyocera plans to increase exports of mobile phones from zero to 24 billion yen ($US174.2 million) by next March as it works to establish a global sales network for its Iridium handsets.
