FORE analysis -- Vision and strategic importance
vision to foresee the growth for GB and fast ethernet segment that is also tied to windows NT.
Corporate and enterprise deployment of NT will grow at an exponential rate, especially from 5.0. The ability to easily integrate and provide applications-aware network service end-to-end will beone of the key drivers of revenue(significant revenue growth is possible) with this combination; from NT-based networked applications from Berekeley switch to the Powerhub and extending to the WAN over ASX.
Microsoft currently uses FORE for thier backbone campus network as well as many large coporations world wide. The next generation mkt to upgrade coportions' LAN and campus network will tie heavily to the level of support that applications
have with the network operating system and the network itself. FORE has the potential as well as solid start and the vision to capture this extremely hugh opportinity.

Acquisition
FORE at this price point is extremely attractive for this. With Berekeley it is even more so based on the strategic importance of network-aware integration with windows NT

At 16$, it's a bargain, no-clue analysts do not have any idea or vision to see
much more then the next trading day

So I take it that you are back in @16 and change. What's more if Lu buys in the next 3 months, it would be buying with a beaten down stock as well. Rather take 2Billion worth LU @70-75 than @100-110.
It might be better to get bought out in a down mkt than an overheated market

I'm still watching and wondering.

I'm confident that FORE will recover, but how far how fast?

It does seem like an attractive target at these prices, but so do so many other companies. Those with deep pockets could peruse:

CS $1.2b
XYLN $624mm
PAIR $520mm
MADGF $136mm
SHVA $121mm
LARS $74mm
or FIBR for a mere $16mm in market cap

If LU had waited, they could have picked up 2 or 3 good companies for what they paid for YURI. Even at $75, LU could grab a few plums using pooling of interest, and make out like a bandit.

I'll stick with my current stake in FORE (18 11/16), and look elsewhere for buys. If FORE is a buy at $16, XYLN is a screaming buy at $15. And NN in the teens is nothing to sneeze at.

But are tech stocks the place to be? With so much uncertainly, Friday doesn't seem to be the day to accumulate shares. A nice long weekend to contemplate things,

You all have a good one,

James
