OT Old ComputersI'm about buy another computer for my boys, the 486 is going in the basement with the 386

Those older models still make good single purpose machines (If you have room in the basement). Just use a monitor switch box so you only need one monitor + keyboard. I use one old one as a printer server and another as a dedicated scanner station. Just link them together on ethernet. I also backup by copying my data files to the old machines, only takes about 30 seconds so I am more willing to backup frequently.

Greg . . . the old 486 can make a good backup server (beats the heck out of external ZIP drives for my notebook!) Lash up an Ethernet link, stick in a big hard drive and backing up takes a few minutes.
