Speaking of V-Tech. I was in Staples yesterday, and was astounded to see a V-Tech 900Mhz phone on sale for $39.95! Just 6 months ago, it was hard to find a 900 Mhz phone for less then $200. I checked the case, and of course it was made in China. Must be a Deswell product. Basic features, no display, not quite as nice as their other 900 Mhz phones, but for $39.95 what a deal. This is the death knell for standard cordless phones, long live the new king V-Tech! (and its nephew Deswell).

Paul,

Thanks.

DIIG just bought the electronics company. Can they be expected to expand this into full assembly? Could it be an opportunity for Deswell or would they ignore Deswell because of their Kwanasia holdings?

Do you (or others) know the extent of companies like Mita, VTech, Nam Tai, etc. doing assembly in the HK region of China? Should Deswell consider acquiring or opening facilities near Shanghai to take advantage of the growth there?

TIA,
Ron
