But "full" deployment will take years - think of all the necessary equipment upgrades. As proof of the time required for deployment, T1/E1 is a decade old technology and RBOCs are still deploying! RBOCs are not the only ones facing deployment delays. The cable companies announced about 2 years ago that they will provide telephone service and high-speed internet access. Currently, they enjoy a very small market. So, while ADSL is phased in, HDSL will be in use during the transition. "A second question open to everyone is has anyone seen any articles regarding ASDL products and has Pairgain been named as one of the top contenders." Look at the website of any of the following: Cisco, Ascend, Lucent, etc. for ADSL products. On the PAIR website, their newsletter has several articles on their ADSL products. Of particular interest is an independent test of a beta modem using the Falcon chip.
