This thing is coming to a conclusion soon, and despite the brave front put on by the Clinton supporters things are seriously unraveling. Now they are struggling within the White House to even field a full defense team. Spin continues but its so transparent everyone knows the signs. Nobody takes it seriously anymore. The establishment media is sourcing Drudge now rather than lampooning him. An obvious rift in the First Family has all the remaining supporters on edge with how that will divide, as it surely will.

Not too surprising the three biggest nails in the coffin of the Clinton presidency are Democrats. Panetta, Gephart and Liebermann.

Months ago, even years ago, the first warning salvo was fired by Leon Panetta. He was Chief of Staff at the White House during the first four years. Lewinsky worked in his organization. Surely he heard, knew or suspected things. He bailed out of the White House immediately after the successful reelection like a homing pigeon back to California. He and a host of other staffers and Cabinet members. More recently, in the early stages of Monicagate this same Leon Panetta called out publicly to the President to do the right thing and get it behind him, his voice of reason was drowned in a sea of acrimony, spin and lies. Obviously now Leon had reason to believe things were not right in the White House.

Too little and too late Clinton tried to face the nation and distract from his unforgivable rant seven months back "...that woman. Ms. Lewinsky." Then Gephart fired his salvo in Congress, now Liebermann has joined the call. They are seeking a morally sustainable position and calling for a non-partisan review in hopes of rescuing the mightily damaged "Democratic Party" life raft, forget the Ship of State. The damage is mortal. There is no hope. In its titannic struggle it has failed and has begun to sink.

This catharsis is the country's business, there is none more riveting. Not even global deflation nor financial panic setting in on Wall Street or an abortive War on Terrorism can drive it from the news media or country's consciousness. He either resigns or is impeached and tried in the Senate. The Starr report hangs, a mighty paper guillotine of damning evidence that Clinton fears most of all. The cleansing will soon begin.

There is yet a final act. We wait in anticipation.
