Oh dear. I feel for ya pal.
I spent about 9 months on the beach back when.
Wives have this *THING* about men *WORKING*. And no, completing a degree didn't count. And no I was *NOT* going to go to work for peanuts just to have a job when we were doing very well financially.
One would have thought that we were going to starve in the back alleys of Kabul or something. We made well into 6 figures that year.

Personally, I would say that you would be likely to make MUCH more money following your current career track for a while. Go to work as an investment analyst and work with other people's money. Or start a fund with these guys and make millions.

Those guys from Los Alamos who started the strange attractor fund? They are doing well. That's as good a way to buy stocks as any.

(I'll go off to find the strange attractor now.)
