Hello Clark, Just a thought on scholarly references of the times. Flat earth proponents of not too long ago thought the earth is supported by some unknown device or upon the back of massive elephants as was thought in the far east. The book of Job was written long before those scholars presented their ideas.... Job 26:7 He (God) stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Scientists seem to readily agree that the earth was once similar to a tropical rain forest throughout the globe which was suddenly and drastically changed due possibly to a cataclysmic event. At the time just prior to Adam and Eve and prior to the flood and Noahs ark.... Genesis chapter 2 vs 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. vs 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. There is much wisdom in the bible and much historical evidence as well that even science supports. Food for thought. John

Clearly someone that places more faith in "Clark Kent" than god cannot be taken seriously. This person obviously has some deeper issues to deal with...go give Marilyn Manson a hug for us all, and leave the issues of life to those of us with a deeper sense of living really is. weather you children believe in Santa Clause has no bearing on his actual existence. If you do not believe in gravity....gravity still exists is this atmosphere.Santa Clause does not.You can not see it, smell it, hear it, taste it etc.. but you can readily see it's effects in the world. Similarly there are those who believe that the effects of "God" are evident in the world as his handy work and design are so wonderfully and breathtakingly evident.This is the common sense I reffer to. It is this evidence which calls people to attention and a deeper search for a more defined understanding of the characterstics of "God" Concerning your idea that it was religious fools who continued believing in a flat earth: The Bible is not a science text book but is by no means put to shame by any of the hard facts that science has only recently discovered.The Hebrew Statesman Isaiah wrote in 700 BC that "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and it's people are like grasshoppers.He stretches out the heavens like a canopy and spreads them out like a tent to live in." Chapter 40:22 Note that he sais "circle of the earth", which would certainly comply with our modern understanding of the earth. There are those who give very subjective reasons for their faith. These reassons are very deep and personal and therefore can not be quanitatively measured, analysed and subjected to critical reason and thought. Someone can tell you that they experienced great joy from the Holly Spirit upon recieving Christ. How do you measure, or test the validity of someone elses experience? Another may claim to have a great sense of independence, freedom, and confidence from being an atheist who refuses to march to the tune of the any one. How can anyone measure or debate that? My point is simply that there are foundations for believing any faith.These foundations are comprised of evidence and proof which leads the human mind to a leap of faith. A leap into believing something that he or she can not prove. As you said yourself; "I can not prove there is no God". Yet you seem so sure of yourself that you would entrust your "faith" to your children. Perhaps you present evidence to support your faith to your children, that you withold from those of us here on this thread?
