Mike, there is nothing wrong with making a living, but graying the area of "news" by writing in news form when the article is actually drawn from a soon-to-be published (or just published) book is becoming all too common in "journalism."

It's not news - it's hype. It's the reason you see big-shot actors on early morning and late night TV - coincidentally about the time their "new" movie is coming out.

The problem is, we, the consumer/reader, get led into thinking what we see in news has authentic journalistic credibility behind it, when , IMO, far too many of these "placements" (as they are called in the PR business) have an unseen quid pro quo somewhere behind them.

In everything like this, especially when rumor, scandal and gossip make it so attractive, you have to pay more attention to where and who the information comes from, and additionally, WHY it comes.
