The reason nobody can track down his background is that while working for the Defence Department Inc. ( a company that specialized in all weather coatings for fences ) he accidentally swallowed some of their product thinking that that was the coffee flask.

The product was an advanced camoflage covering that would change colour according to the background so that your neighbour would not know the height of your fence or in fact that you had one. Other than a confused and bruised pet constantly charging the flowerbeds no one would be the wiser. The raw ingredient of the product was a gene extracted from the chameleon.

In fact he was suspended from payroll when it was suspected that he was getting someone else to punch in for him but he was not showing up. The remarkable background fade effect was noticed when during his shift someone noticed that the couch was snoring.

Everything went well for awhile until he attended the Scottish games and had his picture taken in front of some contestants all wearing different plaids. You may visit him at the rest home in Toronto where his room has been painted white. He is the depression in the bed.
