Brent, I said this many months ago. If the number from Heidelberg does not change (go up) and most of that revenue number from Heidelberg has already come in then this could be an interesting Q. My point was that the non-Heidelberg revenue stream is picking up speed. If PRST stays flat or just ahead of the annual revs as predicted by them then that means these non-Heidelberg revs are way up. The HDP proofer and others are part of this.

My point all along has been that the backlog or inventory of imaging kits for the QM-DI will have to dry up. With the new system in place for release at Ipex it would seem that Heidelberg is ready for more of these new kits as orders for the new QM-DI+ come in at the show and beyond.

I don't see this Q as an ugly potential at all. I see it as proof positive that PRST has broken away from that dependence on Heidelberg. The ongoing contracts and new product development with Heidelberg is further proof of PRST's viable future in the printing press and plate markets.

Would Heidelberg risk an injunction against the use of the "DI" technology on their SM-74 DI? Could or would PRST do such a thing? Cooler heads will prevail in a royalty agreement.

As always in my opinion
Good luck to each and all

Brent,

The March 31, 1998 release said PRST expects $29 in "QM based product" from HDBG. Not included in that number would be any plate sales through HDBG or other engineering expenses related to development of the new improved QMDI or other product development or perhaps other products.

The July 1, 1998 release states that PRST is expecting a $29MM reduction to total HDBG revenues from '97 to '98. From the 10K, $74MM of '97 revenues (81% of $91MM) were HDBG. That means total '98 revenue from HDBG is estimated to be $45MM ($74MM - $29MM), with $29MM of that from "QM based product" and $16MM from other HDBG activity.

Hope this helps you with the next Quarter.

Charles
