Chromatics Color Sciences International Signs Lease and License Agreement with Nordstrom Department Stores

NEW YORK, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Chromatics Color Sciences International, Inc. (Nasdaq: CCSI - news) has signed a lease and license agreement with Nordstrom Department Stores for use of the Company's technology and Colormate(R) Systems for custom blending cosmetics. The custom blended system and products provided by the Company will be used to formulate and recommend the ''C20 Color to Order(TM)'' line of cosmetic products, Nordstrom's proprietary line of cosmetics, which will be introduced at its 4 flagship stores, where it will be evaluated over a 3 month period for extended use including additional Nordstrom store locations.

Nordstrom will use the Colormate(R) II units to analyze individual customers' skin color and recommend custom-blended foundation color formulations to match or enhance their natural skin color, along with appropriate customized shades of blush, lipstick, concealers, eyeshadow and powders. The Company is collaborating on the project with Cosmetiques IV Generations, Ltd., which will provide training and in-store servicing among other functions on the Company's behalf at the Nordstrom launch locations.

Chromatics Color Sciences is in the business of color science and has developed technologies and intellectual properties which it believes have medical applications involving the detection and monitoring of chromogenic diseases or disorders such as bilirubin infant jaundice. The Company defines chromogenic diseases or disorders as those diagnosed or monitored by the coloration of the human skin, tissue or fluid being affected. In this regard the Company has received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for commercial marketing of its medical device for detection and monitoring of bilirubin infant
jaundice.

Other medical applications will require additional clinical trials and FDA clearance. The Company's technologies and intellectual properties also have other applications, including the scientific color measurement and classification of human skin, certain color-sensitive consumer products, and in determining the color compatibility of such skin and product color classification for use in a variety of industries including the cosmetic beauty-aid and fashion industries.
