that's not what I said, (and I can read fine thankyou) IT IS THE BEGINNING OF A TREND! and exactly the kind of thing you start seeing w/ currency turmoil which I have been talking about. The dollar is not immune to being shredded and thee fundamentals are MUCH worse for the dollar than every other major currency because we export almost nothing and have ENORMOUS debts. More and more third world countires will likely put on currency controls just like we did in the 30's.

THAT is the point.

do as you please, as always of course!

Thean:

Malaysia also demonetarized large denomination bills, and said they'll be banning the import of offshore ringgits, hoping their citizens will immediately repatriate their offshore accounts. If they don't, the removal of large bills will make it more difficult to smuggle their money back into the country, should they choose to do so. Of course there's nothing to prevent the offshore money being converted into something else that would be of equal, or greater value in Malaysia, and then being smuggled back home. Ergo LT's gold theory, IMHO.

Thean...I read yesterday that Malay gov't is calling in all old(current) ringits by 30 days and issuing replacement currency. True/False?
