Several years ago, NSM either bought IIT or their 486 technology and has been using it as some sort of embedded x86 CPU.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I haven't heard of them in about 7 years. When did they go out of business. They were manufacturing math co-processors back in '91...Did they do anything else? (other than lose money?)


They are not out of business. When IIT brought in Micron's ex-CEO, Joe Parkinson, he changed IIT's name to 8x8 (NASDAQ:EGHT). (JPEG works on 8 by 8 subimages.) Parkinson himself left 8x8 in the past year or so.
