But just where are the greener pastures in
semi-land these days?

Besides I could argue since other companies stocks' have
cratered just as much those companies face the same problems
as LSI. So maybe BOB leaves NSM to join LSI and JIMBOB leaves
LSI to join NSM. So LSI has one less JIMBOB but one more
BOB <g>

(If they leave they forfeit a whole bunch of vesting
now and have to be made whole at other companies.

Not sure if these days any othe companies in ASIC/SOC/semi
land that are public are in such a generous mood. )

(Besides LSI reprices those options every year.

You can bet they will be repriced again this year.)

Also as everyone knows Mr. Atmel is trying to do the
SOC thing.

When George was asked who he was trying to be like, he
said he was trying to <sit down for this> be like LSI.

Of course ATML is in the top 5 %most down stock list. But
LSI is one of the big wigs in this industry and people
should realize this. For instance
when LSI was not going to join
VSIA people thought VSIA
would be toast. IBM too was reticent.

IF one believes that SOC is the way
to design systems in the future (and anyone who does not is
from Mars) then LSI is in the forefront.

There are always threats when making a paradigm shift
and LSI's lack of earnings growth in the last few years
may mean there are some issues in the business model but heck
when everyone is chasing you they must be doing so for a reason and
if one believes that this is the wave of the future and assuming
that LSI has some bright people working for them then one must
reason that there is a high barrier to entry here and that it
is not a simple matter of retrofitting a fab, hiring a few
designers and buying IP.

Hopefully...
