Trimble Unveils Year 2000 Page

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble (Nasdaq: TRMB) has
unveiled an extensive web page to provide information about how its products will perform during the upcoming Global Positioning System (GPS)Week Number Roll Over and Year 2000 events.

The Website, at trimble.com, is believed to be the first of its kind compiled by a major manufacturer of GPS receivers. In addition to spelling out the company's policy, the site contains a listing of the company's products and the status of analysis of their performance.

"Obtaining this information is important for our customers, so it's important to us as well," said John Lovell, Trimble's director of quality. "We want our customers to know what they can expect of their products during these important events."

"The site is valuable to both existing and future customers," he said. "Current customers want to know how the products they own will perform and what, if any, modifications they need to make. Future customers can, at a glance, see how our product line performs. We want to give everyone the confidence that Trimble products can perform well in both situations."

Testing thus far has shown that the vast majority of Trimble products are either Y2K compliant or can be made compliant with certain upgrades, Lovell said.

"We're continuing to test our products and will update our results regularly," Lovell said. "When we obtain a definitive answer on a product, we'll share it with our customers."

Since its founding 20 years ago, Trimble has developed more than 200 GPS-related products and engineers are evaluating each to determine its Year 2000 and GPS Week Number Roll Over performance. The company plans to release a complete list of results over the Internet by Oct. 1.

In addition to the product status section, the Website contains a definition and explanation of the Year 2000 and Week Number Roll Over issues, its policy of managing product compliance, and a list of associated Year 2000 Websites. It also gives customers a way to contact the company for further information.
