I hope noone mistakes this labor-union-PR hatchet job for journalism. In fact, many high profile bank mergers are beset by this kind of
CRA-related pressure, and most survive it.

The residential lending market is brutally competitive, and the Norwest-WF combination will not undo that in the affected communities. Look in your phone book and see how many lenders you can call for rates on a home loan.

I'd be extremely surprised to see any real difficulty for the merger emerge from the public hearing. Any other takes on this?

John, still buying this 2.5% CD
