Do you see tens of millions of sub-$1000 computers featuring the MediaGX platform now? If not, then what makes you think that any Socket 7 solution which integrates graphics and audio is going to be any more successful in the near term?

Tenchusatsu,

The original MediaGX platform probably has sold 10,000,000 units. What has inhibited additional sales is low performance, and a lack of 3D graphics. Considering the mediocre performance and lack of features, the sales have been spectacular.

If you take the same concept and put it in a fully featured system, it is a killer low-cost product. This is currently being done with K6-2/SIS. Cyrix will eventually do it with MXi and PCOAC.

That is why Intel is pushing so hard with their Mendocino/Dixon/Whitney/PCOAC efforts.
