Tim and all, Cyberstar's news: CyberStar Advances From Development to Marketing and Sales Phase MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 1998--CyberStar, L.P., a company formed by Loral Space and Communications, today announced management and organizational changes reflecting its increased emphasis on the marketing of it of global broadband services. The changes include the appointment of two key executives along with the realignment of internal resources in sales, marketing and research and development functions. The shift to a marketing emphasis, following successful field tests of CyberStar's satellite IP Multicast delivery service for business environments, equips CyberStar to exploit the enormous demand for broadband digital services and allows for an accelerated sales pace. Chris Dittmer, former vice president of international marketing and field support for Oracle Corporation [Nasdaq:ORCL - news], has been named vice president of worldwide marketing and business development, and Bill LaSalle, former vice president and associate general counsel for Lockheed Martin Corporation [NYSE:LMT - news], has been appointed vice president and general counsel. In addition, to further support the rapid introduction of CyberStar broadband digital services to the North American enterprise market, CyberStar is augmenting its marketing, business development, sales and customer support activities, and improving operating efficiencies. These changes will entail the recruitment of additional resources in the sales and product development areas and the elimination of certain other development positions. ''We are satisfied with the progress CyberStar has made since its inception last year,'' said Ron Maehl, president of CyberStar. ''Our pilot program with several corporations, precursor to a full scale roll-out of our satellite IP Multicast service, has been very successful. We have the right resources now to focus on growing sales of our current product offering.'' ''Bringing Chris and Bill on board adds the experience of two industry veterans to the company's management team,'' Maehl said. ''Chris's proven ability to design and implement global marketing programs will make him an invaluable resource as we execute our business plan. And Bill brings to CyberStar more than 20 years of corporate legal experience with distinguished technology companies.'' At Oracle, Dittmer implemented the Oracle Value Service(tm) program for business partners, which allowed Oracle partners worldwide to share a stake in the strategic direction of the company. Prior to joining Oracle, he served as Microsoft's Far East and European end-user and network business unit manager and established Microsoft's Solution Provider Program in Europe. Dittmer will play an integral part in further developing CyberStar's market presence and partnerships worldwide. LaSalle began his legal career with IBM in 1977. When Loral, CyberStar's parent company, acquired IBM's Federal Systems business in 1994, LaSalle joined Loral as the vice president and general counsel of Loral Federal Systems Company. At these companies, LaSalle advised senior managers regarding all legal aspects of operations, and developed and implemented the sale and licensing of information processing technology products and services.
