PairGain has good products and good customers-
Its selling more units but the ASP is lower; therefore Revenue and Bottom Line growth is under pressure. Their products work and all their customers are major telecom service companies that have accepted their products as meeting their tough standards. All the xDSL confusion has upset what was a very tidy market. If any of this confusion simmers down (and I see some evidence of this) then Pair stands a very good chance to recover very quickly. They are a very valuable acquisition target because of their customer relationships. Also, if the Telcos finally throw in the towel and price T1 lines competitively with xDSL then Pair will see an absolute explosion of sales. Telcos will not just sit around and watch their data revenues get murdered by the CLECs. In my opinion, they will eventually resort to predatory pricing in order to kill off the competition. This will increase T1 sales by a couple of orders of magnitude.
