The use of impolite language is, in my opinion, appropriate when it is used upon someone who has done far worse than using impolite words.
The argument, and essence of the same, how it is built, structured and arrived at, with appropriate supporting evidence is what really matters.
Words, be those impolite, improper, vulgar, or foreign is merely the "salt and pepper" of the argument.
If you and I get into a debate/argument over whatever subject, and both of us utilize logic, proper language and reason in our lines of thought, then I agree that the use of such language may be inappropriate, perhaps with the exception to make an extreme point.
However, the rules change when the person you are debating fabricates lies, imagines evidence, changes history, repeats dogma without logic, indeed spouts offensive verses and misconstrues earlier statements to improve his position (at least in his mind).
Quickly, any person with a reasonable amount of intelligence can determine that the counter side is simply "toying" with the argument, facts etc.
Some of the arguments that have been made here are so ridiculous, that it is clear the person making such claims/historical reference etc. is either crazy, making things up on purpose, evil, ignorant, or simply and irreversibly stupid.
Once such determination is clearly evident, then the use of "appropriate language" should include more "picturesque" language that drives the point "clearer".
For example, a person that continues to make references to verses in an old book that in some instances have little relevance, or is extreme in its the application, or merely repeats the same irrational argument over, and over, and over, I believe that deserves a name more colorful, than simply calling him "irrelevant and repetitive".
In this example the use of the term "Zombitron" is indeed appropriate as it describes not only the fact that it is "repetitive and irrelevant", in addition it helps the mind "picture" how the person in question actually behaves.
This is my opinion, if specific language bothers you, I will attempt (not promises), to reduce my "flora" of the same.
Now I understand that in a subsequent post you indicated that "foreign" expletives and other "florid" expressions seem to be acceptable, in which case, I submit to your consideration, the following:
