Diamond,
The signs seem pretty clear to me. Take the paint, still in the cans this time, back to the store and wait 'till next year to paint whatever it is needs painting. By then hopefully the 1 thing will have subsided for awhile and the paint brush special will be over.

I don't know Diamond. I find it a lot easier to believe if you had posted your 111 story before the crash. The crash time was 10 pm ET so you have about 5 full hours to cook up the story. Unless you can prove your allaby (sp?), but I doubt it since you are most likely at home and you do own a TV set, at least a radio, and the internet access to the world.

LT - the one man opinion happens to come from the guy who is making a living promoting gold. I have dealt with gold brokers (my first three full fee brokers are all gold brokers) like that and they are really no different from used car salesman. I'm sure you have no experience with used car salesman but I do. The car I bought from the first used car saleman broke down the next day and I had to foot all the bill for the clutch replacement. The first gold broker told me all the car windshields will be coated with silver in three years and that was 9 years ago.

Let time decide if the story can turn out to be true. If the populace in Malaysia begin to stock up gold, I will know it first hand. You think my mother-in-law will pass up this investment opportunity? Anyway, I will speak to a more reliable sister-in-law who is a personal banker at the local Citicorp. By the way, Malaysians do not keep dollars (greenbacks), the currency is Ringgit. It is not Russia where there is a black market for the US$. The people put extra cash in the stock market or buy lottery tickets. No one cares about exchanging it in the US$ except the handful who send their kids to college here. The jury is still out LT, and don't let this used-gold saleman carry you away. Just how much do you think the amount of "dollars" uninvested in fixed assets there are in Malaysia?

If you think this radical economic and monetory policy by one defiant country can develop into a trend globally, I will raise my eyebrows and say bravo. Only time will tell whether this policy will bear fruit. Give it two years the most. If no positive results appear, expect some political change to take place.

Meantime, gold price may go up for all other reasons. The theory of a trend of huge black market (smuggling) demand of gold into Malaysia and whatever countries that follow its path at this point is as good as your astrology lessons.

Alright, Diamond.. You're starting to freak us out, here. Get ahold of yourself!! <G>.

Drillers. I still have some small positions. Stocks that are basing will have little rallies as they bounce on the bottom (or before dropping further!). A few thoughts: (1) since they are tied to oil prices, they have huge volatility and you could miss the early stages of a run; however; (2) if we moved towards worldwide recession/depression, oil consumption should surely drop unless the US currency is seriously devalued vis a vis most other currencies (we already are guessing that the dollar will drop against gold regardless of its relative performance against other currencies); (3) lastly, if the US market does the LT thing, drillers will probably get whacked too.

Mike

Diamond,

I'm not doubting you about your spooky 1's. But what does this mean, Dow 1111 or what? Give us your reading!

1111...that's funny. Not that I believe in that sort of thing, but it's a numerology "reflection point number" for times of change. Something about to change? I guess death is certainly change, isn't it?

Dead cat falling these last two weeks, then a bounce, then the earth opens up and the dead cat falls even more...
