Alan: An excellent post, in my view. For years, the pundits
and analysts have harangued us about the inescapable fact
of the global economy. It, therefore, smacked of gritty irony
that many of these same folk dismissed the consequences of
overseas economic implosions upon our suddenly "insulated"
domestic economy as these foreign markets fell like dominoes,
one by one.

As for teaching versus preaching, I'm all for both given a good
teacher and a good preacher. In my book, there are valuable
lessons which can be drawn from both sources of knowledge,
experience, and insight.

Subject: Market Musedoms

If you are holding: Wisdom in this volatile market dictates that you turn off your computer for six to nine months and read a book. Should you fail to heed this wisdom, you can always retrofit your computer chair with seat belts to survive any market onslaught.

If you are bearish: Wisdom dictates that you sell on strength. This will minimize the number of future I should have wailings that we may have to bear.

If you are bullish: Wisdom dictates that you should never look a gift horse in the mouth. If you fail to heed this wisdom, be sure to have a carrot handy.
