Have not heard about the deal with AT&T but if true, should provide a boost to 3COM come Tuesday/Wednesday.

Technical charts indicate stock rising back to the $26 level followed by $29 over the short term and then $35 within 12 months if not sooner. That represents just over a 30% return.
Long term investing folks....that's the old fashioned and proven way of making $$$$.

I bought in at $24 1/4 on Friday afternoon. The worrisome part is that many stocks are hitting new 52-week lows and 3Com is not to far from $22 7/8. Cannot say how far down it will go before coming back up but accumulation is recommended.

I have confidence in 3COM earnings going forward. For example, large reseller I recently worked for was shipping the 3COM switches and hubs by the hundreds at small-medium size business's. Makes one hell of a difference in fast ethernet toplogys.

HVN, I am not surprise at all if ATT has something going on with coms. T is buying out TCI and planning to provide local phone services thro' TCI's cable modem networks. TCI and coms issued news releases not long ago that TCI would use coms' cable modems and headend gears. The deals you are referring to maybe just an extention to the TCI/coms deal.

The current coms price focuses narrowly on this month report and hasn't taken any major deals and buyout into consideration.

For ATT/TCI merger :

"AT&T, TCI to merge, create new AT&T consumer services unit "

>>AT&T VOIP deal with 3Com? I just came away from a dinn er party where I met someone from 3Com. Apparently they have just inked a rather huge deal to provide AT&T with their VOIP network/product. I hear they could be announcing it as early as Tuesday. Anyone hear anyting to this effect? <<

I heard something similar also, this weekend. It was very vague
so I couldn't put much weight on it. Also, the AT&T VOIP
deal has MSFT connected with it's NT operating system. I remember
Eric B. stating firmly that there were alliances with
MSFT in the future...but like I said, what I heard this weekend
was not "cash in the hand" type info.

We'll see if some good news comes out this month.

Would be nice to think that COMS is confident enough to
want to push their earnings report with further optimism to
prep for a ramp up in earnings expectations. But, don't want
to get my hopes up too high on vague hearsay.
