Hi Bruce, If you will go to last Sunday, I did a review of the Executive VP of SLB, brunch at our home... His ideas of the near term market for oil and oil services...he's thoughts were they would have a less that good 3rd Qt and 4th Qt would be ahead of estimates....thus now is very early...

Good Sunday Evening Bruce,

Would appreciate your thoughts on high and low poles.

As noted to duke60 at www3.techstocks.com, I'm memorializing my trading rules. It's been an enjoyable endeavor.

So, one of the items I've been thinking about but haven't put down on paper or done any backtesting on yet is high and low poles. Specifically, using them to establish a buy, sell, cover, etc on individual stocks.

Perhaps you can share your experience in that regard. Have you actually bought and sold via a high or low pole signal? Does it make a difference what the trading channel is? The NYSEBP? Chartcraft notes that the Low Pole works better with mutual funds than individual stocks. Has that been your experience? (I'm particularly interested in the low pole relative to taking a short or put that has a buy cover signal too far away --- but, has a low pole signal much closer. For instance, when UK dropped to 43, the buy cover signal was not in play until 56, but the low pole would be 50. Which of course could be lowered as the chart lowered.)

50 O X O
49 O X O

(BTW, you might recall that in the not to distant past I asked you about the HPT and its probability that 80% of the time it will generate a sell signal before a move back above a top. Well, I actually did more than scan the Bearish Chart Formations info on the Options Point & Figure Chart book and there it is. I don't know how many times I looked at that info and didn't really read it.)

Thanks for your thoughts and have a good Labor Day.

Take care,

Eric
