Hi Ramsey: You sure do know how to lift ones' spirits. I think it may be time to direct this thread back to it's proper autumn weekend discussion.

It is the beginning of football season with Michigan(#4)-ND today, and Wisconsin(#20)-San Diego State tonight. The latter game right there in your home town with plenty of tickets available.
Hey, does anybody on this thread care what happens to PSU? I do recall growls last year of "PSU is No 1" coming from the kennel.

Ramsey,

No, no more, that was quite enough to depress me!

I feel you have good insight into all this, and respect your opinion.
I do feel that "it ain't over", but looking long term we should be ok. The market could fall another 1000 pts, but 1-2 years down the road it may all be forgotten.
Now, what about this Q? Is qcom still looking good for the future, now that politics are getting involved? I am still long.....John

Ramsey,

Please invent some thing reverse of "Su's vacation effect". That way you can patent it and charge everyone with royalty. Just be aware of ERICY. They may claim they had the patent too (specifically cause QCOM share price to fall or rise) and demand some respect from you.

Brian H.

Ramsey: Always appreciate and, usually, enjoy your posts (sometimes the subject matter is not very "enjoyable" but your view is always interesting)

Must say I agree very closely with your view in many of the areas. Granted, most of it's predictive work but it's that way for all at this point.

What a contrast to read about the world's troubles, soon to be our troubles to at least some degree, having just stopped by my PC while taking a break from puttering around in my yard. Listening to the giant Canadian honkers flying overhead, leaves rustling in the woods, our cats lolling in the autumn sun. Time to go back out there!

I hope you have an enjoyment filled weekend. ...Tim

Ramsey - regarding your comment ... CNBC reported that over $2 trillion of paper wealth had been lost in the US market this week. It seems to be an awfully high figure but I have no data to confirm or dispute it.

Your natural sense of "this can't be correct" is exactly correct.

It is the move from the exact high (a few months ago) in the stock market (as measured by the Wilshire 5000 (which actually has more than 5000 component stocks now) which is more or less the total market value of all U.S. stocks with a ticker symbol, I believe) that is now $2 trillion off of the high.

What most "alarmists" are not too keen to point out is that even at this level, the Wilshire 5000 is still up huge from any time before just a few years ago.

Jon.
