Michael and PaperChase,

I've found Ashok Kumar to be pretty sharp (however consider the source). I think the story is an improved product mix. The new, improved SellHerCheap chip is pretty competitive in the low-end market. I think that Intel will get back some of the market share they have lost there (however, the cheap' is cheap). Also they are charging loads for the Xeon and are getting good money for the high-end PII (mature technology). So if seasonal demand is good and Intel has straightened out the product mix and cut back drastically on capital expenditures then they should be doing better for the next couple of quarters. Ultimately however, overall demand going forward has to be a big concern.

My 2 cents,

Dave
