The meeting of G7 deputies -- senior finance ministry and foreign ministry officials -- will be chaired by Sir Nigel Wicks, a top British Treasury official. The exact date has not yet been fixed.

Officials said the G7 countries -- current chairman Britain, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada -- were likely to reiterate that they were ready to help Russia but only if it carried out economic reforms.

The senior officials will prepare a report for their ministers, setting out the options for Russia and its foreign partners to overcome the political and economic crisis.

Russia will not be represented at the meeting but the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Commission will be represented.
