The dollar has inflated and deflated throughout it's history. It was pegged to the gold standard last time there was a depression and -imo- it helped to hold down the value of the dollar at that time. I believe by not being pegged to the POG we stand a real good chance of rebounding pretty quickly off a severe correction and avoiding a long depression (if this was to occur).

Note: Wild card is the politicians. If they can keep their asinine policies out of Wall Street, we would have a chance at a quick rebound (should this occur).
