The last part just relates to the fact the as i understood it, (the SS7 and nortel's 250) were comparable in function or am i wrong there?

btw, a very BIG THANK you! for that synopsis it really helps me along in my overall understanding of the complexities of communications.

love to learn, just not what others wish i would be focusing on...

Also you wrote:<I'm glad you clarified that, Byron, since SS7 related
wireless, in the sense of cellular and PCS, could take us
quite some time to unravel. Maybe we'll get into that some
other time, when mobile base stations and roaming
capabilities begin playing a greater role in VoIP
applications. That should be lottsa fun. <g><}

can we really be that far down the line here? Specifically in Europe where GSM, seems to be the norm? or am i on target? i guess what i'm asking /saying is that since wireless seems to have a larger basecamp in Europe, would'nt it be more likely to be the jumping point for VOIP wireless applications and how far really can that be down the line specifically, who is addressing the issue in Europe or here for that mattewr at the present time?

I just got a flash idea%%%%!, how bout you perhaps point me to some reference material that could fill the VERY large gap in my understanding...basics would be great but some more new ideas would be helpful as well, this industry is moving at such a pace and it's many facets phew, there just is not enough time to get it all in a one novel, I do understqand that it would take years of study as well as comprehension to reach certain levels of understanding and of course that for now is difficult at best but surely there is some publication

I mean every time you help me with some knowledge gap i have and there are many, you open another pandora's box, {"mobile base/roaming")
my cdma is lacking as well frustrating for a ametuer like myself, especially when you want to know yet, i'm writing you from the ER
i am at work now, just a break and you sparked another fire...oh well, i'm rambling...

again, thanks

Byron
