>Yahoo has been profitable from operations since third quarter, 1997.

William, before I thought you were just misinformed but since you have now repeated this falsehood, I have to point out again that this is NOT TRUE.

If you remove the interest income that is generated from their 100 million dollar wad of IPO cash (and the subsequent investment by Softbank), they have shown a loss every quarter since inception. This is not a disputable point, this is a fact.

Now if you consider money sitting in the bank earning interest to be an integral part of Yahoo's "operations" then I guess you could still make your claim with a straight face. But as far as the IPO prospectus states, selling advertising and e-commerce is the "operation" of Yahoo. Earning interest on cash sitting in the bank was not part of the business plan put forward in the prospectus.

Clinton aide apologizes for 'hurt'

BELFAST, Northern Ireland, Sept. 3 (UPI) - White House deputy press
secretary Joe Lockhart, who is due this fall to replace Mike McCurry as
press secretary, overslept in Moscow and missed the departure of Air
Force One for Northern Ireland.
Lockhart later caught a flight aboard a presidential back-up plane,
then gave reporters in Belfast a tongue-in-cheek statement declaring:
''I take responsibility for my own actions and I deeply regret it.''
He added, ''I'm dealing with the two people I hurt the most,''
referring to McCurry and White House political adviser Doug Sosnik,
''and I'll have nothing further to say about this.''
Lockhart delivered his response, playing off statements President
Clinton has made in association with the Monica Lewinsky case, after
other White House officials ordered a delay in the departure of the
president's back-up plane from Moscow to allow him to catch it. The
plane is one of the two specially configured 747 jets dedicated to
presidential travel.
While attributing Lockhart's tardiness to his failure to receive a
wake-up call from his hotel in Moscow, McCurry described the matter with
glee to reporters on board Air Force One as they departed for Belfast.
McCurry said, ''Let the record show that in 3 1/2 years as press
secretary, I never missed a plane.''
