Chaz,

3G standard is just too far away to concern right now. QCOM needs to establish an early lead in developing the future CDMA 2000 phone and be compatible with the current IS-95 first. Just like GSM is ahead of IS-95 deployment by 2 year or so. It already made so much difference in term of subscribers growth. The royalty amount from ETSI's WCDMA standard is just additional profit for QCOM.

QCOM needs to show profits and profits only to drive its share price. It also needs to show its ability to develop its commercializable CDMA 2000 phone on time and ahead of WCDMA or WCDMA variety.

A $3 a share profit will dwarf its competition and the Wall Street. That is all I care. Just show us the money QCOM. That is what I called an honest management <ggg> (beat Wall Street estimates each quarter from now on will justify an honest management; otherwise.....). We have waited long enough for this earning prediction to happen.

PS. There is no one universal 2G standard just yet. Why do we need to worry about an universal 3G standard?
