Jim,

Glad to see you jump into this discussion, even if only to respond to one of rudedog's growls.

There is one thing you said about which I am skeptical:

In fact, they ( CPQ) have been sitting on huge amounts of inventory during price drops.

Where do you get your information concerning price drops CPQ receives from Intel? How do you know the particular dates when these price drops are scheduled?

I'm sure you would agree that the price road-maps which Intel makes publicly available aren't applicable to its largest customers. I believe the prices which are applicable to large customers, and which seem to be a closely guarded secret, entail frequent adjustments in price. It is in the interest of Intel to adjust price frequently, so that large customers like CPQ - or Dell for that matter - don't practice disruptive, stop and go buying.

It doesn't make sense to me that, in its sales to CPQ, Intel would make its price drops as infrequent as its public, price road-maps would indicate.
