If one believes that earnings will go down due to $$ sales going down
then the price should follow if the number of shares available remains the same, otherwise a high PSR and PE ratio isn't justified
in a decreasing sales and earnings environment.
I would expect that AMAT should soon announce further stock buy backs
to bolster the stock price. I expected that they would do it somewhere
as the price reached around $24. If they don't this is extremely
bearish as it means that management is anticipating much lower prices
at which point they will initiate a buy back and remove excess stock
from the float. The last quarterly statement or conference call indicated that AMAT did not buy back any shares during Q3, a very bearish indicator at that time.
