You are always so kind and complimentary about my wonderful mental health, but you know me well enough and long enough to know we both have struggled with the same issues. The key was, of course, balance and not looking for Cinderella endings.

But moving on---I'm so sorry about B's first weeks of school!!! I know how much time and effort you put into trying to choose the right place. That must have been horrible. You were right and very brave to deal with it that quickly. When we pulled the boys out of St John's and I home schooled until we could move, there were a lot of parents who criticized us, and also many who agreed but had a billion reasons why they "just couldn't leave". That's BS. When you have a child who's been adjusted and happy, and is now miserable, something's wrong with the fit. Brava and you go, girl.

My opinion of public schools sinks lower and lower. I only hope we can survive the next three years until Ammo's out. The good teachers seem to leave; the poor ones gain tenure and can't be ousted. I fear for the future in so many ways.

I'm still trying to figure out what deviant behavior includes Crisco, diapers and a spatula....
