Mark, Good moves in the oil services area last week from Weds-Fri. A buck pop in the oil futures was a good jump start. For reference on oil futures prices; mrci.com Played CDG,MRL,PKD,FGII,MAVK,ESV,EVI,RIG and VRC. CDG&FLC in merger. 1.7 FLC shares for 1 share CDG. CDG traded at a discount for most of the week and is still at @ 5/8 discount to merger price. If you trade CDG it pays to watch how FLC is moving and sometimes it falls out of whack for a while to a deeper than normal discount of premium. Opportunity can be made of this if you are quick. You have to love the sector for the volatility. Lots of size buying in the sector also. Any thoughts on the OSX index itself? I find myself quickly taking profits or losses because of general market conditions and am flat for the weekend. Would like to commit some long term, but need confirmation of bottoming. Mark, The Iran/Afganistan tensions will probably help oils further. No signs at pump yet though. Paid .79 for unleaded yesterday.. life in Georgia!. Thanks for your guidance to oils and metals. Here's my list this week (some redundancies included). NGC Gold GGO Gold NEM Gold ANGLY Gold HM Gold PDG Gold ABX Gold BNO Oil COSE Oil NFX Oil FSC Oil SWC Metals CYM Metals AL Metals - Aluminum CDE Metals - Silver SIL Metals - Silver All these were strong last week. Trading system up.. Finally, just in time for the DOW's second successful 7500 test. hhmmmm. Have seen a few posts insinuating my "great" trading ability. Well, where have I been lately?? I could have left some cash at ETrade and continued trading.. right?? Well the market uncertainty bothered me and my shorting skills are not there... yet(Had CMGI short at $75, covered before $70&^%$%^*). As with other emotions, ego and pride don't help trading. Somewhere in "Market Wizards", it is said women sometimes out-trade men because of less ego than men. A man would do things like.... "let's see how I can move the markets". Well thats not me, and until a true confirmation materialized and/or a strong tradeable sector emerged, I was going to trade very lightly or not at all against the market. Having another source of income makes this an easy decision. Best to trade when there's money on the floor waiting to be picked up. Best to trade when you can, not when you must. See you on Tuesday.
