You, no doubt, are a follower of Greenspan, and know that up until this speech, while he has recognized no real inflation was occurring, that his diligence and concern was on that side of the equation, if you will. This latest speech now balanced the inflation concern with deflation and showed he was indeed concerned about the impact of the world situation on the US.

I believe the markets will take the "rebalancing" as a certain "no interest increase" posture and I have even seen things like "... he may drop interest rates next... " in the press.

I agree with all you are saying... but I interpret it differently.
