I just read the posts where jim and geoff mentioned that volume purchases by Dell and CPQ are individually negotiated, so the info is not easily available. I was suggesting that a curious person might inquire as to how Intel would price under a couple of scenarios to get a feel for how they do business, not try and get G2 on actual prices. My impression is that we are drifting into a content-free discussion. My goal was not to disparage Dell but to give some insight as to why these companies might choose the inventory models they are using. I am speaking from direct knowledge of some of the policies involved, with the intent of helping investors understand the dynamics of these 2 companies, both of which are substantial parts of my portfolio. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything or get into a debate on which is better. Jim has finally gotten to ad hominem in his discussion so I doubt if we will make much progress from here. Maybe I'll try again at another time.
