In your inimitable way, Rod, you are adding so much vitriol to the style of the message that you send as the the substance. If people slam you back it's because they have not read your words because the style gets them all steamed up.

You are correct about the quality of JBuilder though. I have tried to use it twice (1.0 and 2.0) and it is frankly unusable. There doesn't seem to be any one problem, just general lack of attention to detail. Any development tool that crashes is subject to instant expulsion in any shop that I have ever worked in. They have the cheek to charge four-figure sums for it too!

This company is screwing up badly, however you say it.

Rod,

I'm thinking of undertaking some serious development using Java, starting this week. It's a small project -- I'm expecting to start distributing it in a couple months. Platform independence, database connectivity, and gui support are important criteria for me.

Could you recommend a Java development tool for me. One that will meet my development criteria, and offers the usual stuff -- a good ide, debugger, stability, excellent docs?

Thanks....
