IS it male or female?

Sherry, is there anything electrical in close proximity to your mouse which may be causing the problem when you turn on the appliance? I had a similar problem w/2 mice until(dunce that I am)I realized that the mouse cord was touching the base of a reading lamp which I used very infrequently. Mouse went berserk when I turned on the lamp, and it didn't matter if I turned it off. It required re-booting to regain control of the mouse. Moving the lamp eliminated the problem.

>>>Should I be cleaning it?

Yep

It's real easy to clean a mouse ....

remove the round part on the bottom of the mouse
take out the little ball.

look inside ... there are three wheels ...
they get gunked up .... from cigarette ashes and dust

roll the wheels with your thumb and use your thumbnail to scrape off the gunk on all the wheels as you rotate them ...

a q tip works too ... but isn't nescessary

blow inside the space and blow all all the debris when you're done .... it'll be good as new

I cleaned mine every month for a year and then finally bought a new one. No problems since then.
