Gary,

When I am trading my Fidelity accounts I, too, post the trades into Quicken (as soon as possible after doing the trade) and I post the approximately commission (usually $14.95), then revise it with actual commission after the paper confirmation arrives. That way, I keep track of how much buying power the account has intraday.

However, more up to date brokers usually provide updated account balances intraday.
