Analyst sees $53 bln of bizjet sales by 2007

NEW YORK, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Teal Group, an aerospace and defense market analysis firm, said on Monday that 4,100 business aircraft valued at $53 billion (in 1998 dollars) will be produced over the 1998-2007 decade.

Teal analysts released their annual forecast of corporate jet demand today at Farnborough International 98 in Farnborough, England.

''After spending the late 1980s and early 1990s in the doldrums, the bizjet market is in the midst of a terrific growth spurt,'' Richard Aboulafia, lead analyst for Teal Group, said in a statement.

In 1995, there were 337 bizjet deliveries worth a total of $3.3 billion, the company said. This figure rose to 352 jets worth $3.7 billion in 1996, and 439 worth $5.5 billion in 1997, Teal Group said.

''This year and next represent the peak of the market. Bizjet deliveries will total 485 jets worth $6.7 billion in 1998, also one of the best single- year increases in the market's history. And 1999 should see deliveries of 487 jets worth $6.8 billion,'' Aboulafla said.

Teal Group said the increased number of new models and fractional ownership orders are aiding the industry.

In the prior 10 years, only 3,076 jets worth $37 billion (in 1998 dollars) were delivered.

Bombardier Inc. (Toronto:BBDa.TO - news) is the market leader, followed closely by Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. (NYSE:GAC - news), Cessna and Dassault Aviation . Raytheon Co (NYSE:RTNa - news) ranked fifth, but Aboulafla expects new models to help results after 2000.
