Yes, you have highlighted a good point. The sector since 1995 hasn't been doing at all well. The overall gains have been meager at best.

In looking at chart histories, I have found charts for 14 of the 41 stocks that go back to 1991. From that point until the "high point(s)" of the group in 1995, the stock gains were extremely good. Those were the "glory" years of the semi-equip group. Some of the 14 stocks had continuous increases until 1995, while others dipped to new lows in 1992 and then "took off".

Some of the stocks increased to new highs in 1997, and from then on of course, it has been all "downhill". During the intervening years, many new companies in the sector were formed and started producing.

I keep wondering if a turn-around and continued growth for the sector is in the cards, and if so, how long will it take?
