wow. you actually have parents who bring their kids to your "learning center" every day after school, and then they aren't picked up until 8,9,10 o'clock? What's the point of even having them go home, just to sleep? you may as well build some bunks and offer to take them for 24/5. Seriously, that's really bad. You might think about just telling them that your learning center closes at say 6:30. I remember hearing of one day care provider who closed at 4:30. She was very strict about enforcement of it, or tried to be. The problem with making hard rules like that is that you may be forced into telling a client that you no longer can do business with them, because they consistently ignore the rules set forth. I was self employed for 10 years, and only once did I tell a client to take a flying leap. The guy had a habit of blowing off our appointments without at least calling in the general time-frame to tell me that something came up. Aftfer a string of such things within the same two-week period, it came down to where one day he blew off another important appt, and he didn't call, and he didn't answer either his mobile phone or his pager. When 4 hours passed and no word from him, and me trying to contact him, I said that's it. I stacked all his stuff outside my office door with a note on top: "It's time you found a new accountant. You blow off your appts, and still expect the work to get done by the same original date. Forget it." Then I locked the office door and left. He eventually came by, but of course I was gone. Then he called me the next night and said my action was "unexpected". Right!
