John Singer Sargent.

I am looking for another Sargent that influenced the Wyeths. He is superior to them in his statements. Can't find him on the net.

I think Coleville and the Wyeths are not that good. They don't move me.

Jackson does. Jackson makes a statement with raw impressions that evoke emotion about nature as a Japanese painter might without the human element. His colour use is very good. He is much better than Thompson at that. The GO7 took nature as their meter. It was not just landscape art. It was a rendering of the feeling of nature.

The Wyeths could hold their brushes for them. But he is just an interesting illustrator and lacks the emotion of even their father. It is possible to become cutesy and maudlin although accurate like Rockwell. Wyeth is far from that of course but to put the figure in the background without the human condition and nature making some kind of reflection is mixed up semi-mysticism.

JSS is good though. His technique is amazing. His art is "classical" and somewhat cold but well rendered.
