"an os that only blue screens once a year?" even better is in the works.
They got rid of the win 3.1 gpfs in win95 by renaming them -- understand they plan to switch to an orange screen in NT 5.0 ;)

or will people start choosing alternative robust computing platforms that do exist today??? I don't care. I just want a secure, robust, and stable os that runs all my apps!

You have to understand. The blue screen is merely a simple marketing tool used by MS.

They just want to make sure that you never, ever forget who really owns your PC.
