12. I thought that was Ringo Starr's song.

Anyway, a few comments while I continue to kick myself in the butt.

Rolling down is somewhat costly in the current environment when one has small positions -- premiums are high all around. If you've got more than 7 or 8X, who cares, right?

Mon I had one position 4X and another about little over 5X. They are October and January expiry. Would you have rolled down both or just the October position? Do you sometimes just hang on expecting a little more when things are going your way?

Do current market conditions enter into your assessment of when to roll down or hang on?

Mike:

I like it . Especially the jig at the end. Unfortunately, I think the answer for me is: <patience >

Do you like gold or gold options here or do you prefer platinum and the like ? If so, which ones do you like (mining companies or options on the metals themselves) Someone had referred to options on the metals but I cant seem to get my standard broker to do it.

BTW, I agree with the eval on the foreign CEFS, some of them are incredible bargains now.

Mike, in follow up to Robert Carlton's question on rolling down and out, is there some type of option order one can place, like a limit fill or kill, to execute the sale and replacement purchase at speced prices? I'm in the fortunate position of having some AMZN puts that are now so far in the money that it more or less defeats the purpose of having options. TIA for any helpful suggestions on exchanging the position.

Regards, IS

MB, my system to withdraw is more akin to a conversation
that I have with myself that goes something like I saw
once in a movie.

Gen Custer:
What do you think I should do, Muleskinner? Should I
go down there or withdraw?

Jack Crabb:
General, you go down there, there are thousands of
Indians down there, and when they get done with you, there won't
be nothing left but a greasy spot. You go down there if you
got the nerve.

Gen Custer:
Still trying to outsmart me, aren't you, Muleskinner?
You want me to think that you don't want me to go down there,
but the subtle truth is , you really don't want me to go down there.

.
.
.
.

This conversation usually preludes me dialing up and selling.
I might try those twelve steps this go round. I might get hung up
on # 6 however.
