I think there were a few more Jews there too that got clean away from the trouble and weren't lucky enough to be martyrs. In the deep south those guy you mentioned weren't a joke at all or else they would not have disappeared. So what are they? Martyrs to civil rights or man's pathetic attempt to form a middle ground in the face of his greater vector to eternally mistrust the other race? Eventually mistrust or not you have to let people be free or you become a parody of a freeman yourself. I didn't make the situation in New York or Alabama or the attitudes I know exist, that I reflected. I just drew attention to them. You may if you wish sweep them under some comfortable rug. EC<:-}

So let me make it crystal clear what the statement meant as out of context it is a humdinger. So I would say to the black "what reason do you have for hating jews" and if he would say to me " those bassads nevah show enought feelin' in the civil rights marches, we wannah see more pain brothah!" I would say to the black who no doubt has this as his sole and sufficient reason as to why he deeply mistrust jews: " geeh sounds ok to me..why would I think a guy would need more reason that that?" So I am saying perhaps they are being paranoid in mistrusting Jews as a group because some of them seemed to put their ass on the line that better treatment was long overdue. I other words I don't think the radical black would ever say such a thing to me or to himself. As it is he is not looking too far into what people have actually done and what the problems are. The paranoid always see a general movement that is cooked up in back rooms and nudge nudge wink winked in secret code that is burnt in fireplaces as secret crackers drink Southern Comfort and plan midnite rides with maniacal glee. The big plan has been hatched. I would like to see that plan. I am sure it is a working item. So what is the source of the radical blacks discontent? And what does he see as the solution? Can he convince 100,000 white employers he has never met to make him a partner in their firm? Could you or I? Or some New York Jew? Well I think in the answer to that question lies the answer. Society to be equitable and free must be co-operative fair and all wise. You won't force that on each and every one of your fellow man. It's a thorny problem. No amount of bussing and legislation is going to change attitudes on both sides a barricade that to a certain extent nature built herself. Our attitudes whether in Alabama or New York or Africa flow from nature and cannot be helped. I don't think we will ever improve them. Man is doomed forever to be ethnocentric. Throw stones all you want. Pass anti-hate laws. You won't change how black or white feels when he goes home. You won't make people suddenly love each other and want to mutually overcome all their problems realistically. But good luck to you if you should try. Just remember, George Wallace liked blacks genuinely far more than Kennedy did. Some black dummy shot their best friend in the South. If anyone thinks that the LBJ-Wallace thing was more than a mutt and Jeff game they are very naive. Wallace did what he had to do to get elected. He knew things had to change and would. The question was how to do it and get elected again? EC<:-}
